In a significant shakeup for the cycling world, French sporting goods company Decathlon has taken control of a WorldTour team, rebranding it as Decathlon-CMA CGM. The team, which will boast a budget of close to €40 million thanks to a new sponsorship with shipping giant CMA CGM, is aiming to compete at the highest level.

One of the key signings for Decathlon-CMA CGM is Tiesj Benoot, a classics specialist who has joined from Visma. Benoot, known for his impressive performances in races such as the Strade Bianche and the Tour of Flanders, will bolster the team's classics lineup.

Another notable recruit is Matthew Riccitello, a talented American climber who is expected to join Decathlon-CMA CGM, leaving Israel-Premier Tech. Riccitello's climbing skills are anticipated to provide valuable support in mountainous stages.

Decathlon-CMA CGM has also secured the services of Cees Bol, who will have a role in the sprint train and also ride the Classics. Bol, who worked for Mark Cavendish in his final years at Astana, brings a wealth of experience in both sprint and Classics racing.

Olav Kooij, a promising sprinter, is expected to make his Tour de France debut in 2026 with Decathlon-CMA CGM. Kooij, who has left Visma-Lease a Bike, has signed a three-year deal with the team. To support Kooij, Daan Hoole, Robbe Ghys, and Cees Bol have been signed to provide him with a leadout train. Hoole, who won the Pisa time trial at the Giro d'Italia, has joined Decathlon-CMA CGM from Lidl-Trek.

Tobias Lund Andresen, a benchmark sprinter, has been announced as the second benchmark sprinter for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, leaving Picnic PostNL. Andresen's addition to the team will further strengthen their sprint capabilities.

However, not all changes are incoming. Ireland's Sam Bennett will not stay with Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale in 2026, while Andrea Vendrame will leave the team to join Jayco AlUla.

Daphné Desneiges, the Sports Strategy Director of Decathlon-CMA CGM, will oversee the team's operations. With these new signings and strategic changes, Decathlon-CMA CGM is poised to make a strong impact in the world of cycling.
