Athletes skilled in table tennis are transferring to various teams
The 30th Andro Kids Open, Europe's largest youth table tennis competition, is set to return to Düsseldorf from August 16th to 18th. This year, the event promises an exciting lineup of matches, special guests, and interactive activities for young table tennis enthusiasts.
The competition kicks off with a ceremonial opening under the theme "30 Years Kids Open - The World at One Table" at 9:45 AM on Friday in the athletics hall of the Arena Sports Park. The youngest participant, a five-year-old, will join over 1,322 players from 28 nations, including Egypt, China, and South Africa, in the main event.
For those unable to attend, the Kids Open will be live-streamed on sportdeutschland.tv. On the other hand, the kids will have the opportunity to watch the table tennis Bundesliga opening match between Borussia Düsseldorf and Post SV Mühlhausen live on Saturday, with tickets available at a special price in the event hall.
The aim of the tournament is to play as many matches as possible, with around 80 tables hosting approximately 4,500 matches in the main and consolation rounds. The singles competitions begin on the second day of the tournament, while the doubles events start at 10:30 AM on Friday.
The finals for all age groups will take place on Sunday at around 3:15 PM. After the finals, the award ceremonies will follow. This year, for the first time, 17-year-olds (born in 2002) can participate in the tournament.
A rally will focus on interesting facts about the Kids Open and the record champion. The event will also feature a colourful fringe program for the young athletes, including a bouncy castle, shooting gallery, climbing walls, and the SingPong project from Borussia Düsseldorf.
Moreover, "Stars to touch" from Borussia Düsseldorf will be present for all three days of the event. The table tennis fair will offer various interactive activities, adding to the excitement of the competition.
The total prizes for the tournament are worth over 15,000 euros. Last year, the event saw around 950 children and young people aged 6 to 18 from 20 nations participate; individual players like Elias Ruck and Leonard Zickert competed, and the event featured international participants from countries including Belgium and Germany among others.
So, mark your calendars for the 30th Andro Kids Open in Düsseldorf. It's a unique opportunity for young table tennis players to showcase their skills, learn from professionals, and have a fun-filled experience.
