In a fascinating collaboration, renowned watchmaker Vianney Halter has teamed up with Massena LAB to create the Old Soul watch. This timepiece is a testament to Halter's expertise and the rich history of watchmaking.

Halter, a graduate of the Ecole d'Horlogerie de Paris, has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. He has collaborated with Laurent Picciotto on the development of the Old Soul model, and has previously worked with Francois-Paul Journe on ultra-complicated timepieces and with Harry Winston Rare Timepieces under the direction of Max Buesser.

The Old Soul watch is a unique piece, incorporating a vintage movement from a historical manufacture. Its dial features a three-dimensional design in a "regulator" layout, with separate registers for the hours and running seconds. The minute display has a peripheral chapter ring in radially brushed rhodium, with an invisible disc and a blue hour pointer hand that appears to float in midair.

The Old Soul watch also boasts a more conventional shape compared to Halter's usual designs, with a beautiful stepped lug design and a concave bezel reminiscent of watches from the 1930s and 1940s. The chemin de fer minute track and Halter's classic typeface are present on the dial, referencing 19th-century gauges and pocket watches.

The crown of the Old Soul watch is studded, providing a necessary grip when winding, and referencing Halter's steampunk aesthetic. This is also evident in the Antiqua Perpetual watch by Vianney Halter, which features a steampunk housing.

Halter's work is not limited to watches, as he has also created mystery clocks, monopusher chronographs, and minute repeaters. One of his most notable creations is the Opus 3 watch, widely considered an independent watchmaking classic.
