FC Augsburg Secures Two Promising Talents Ahead of New Season

In an exciting turn of events, German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg has bolstered its squad with the acquisitions of two talented young players, Ismael Gharbi and Fabian Rieder, on the final day of the transfer window.

Ismael Gharbi, a 21-year-old forward, joins Augsburg on loan from SC Braga, with the German club securing a purchase option for the young talent. Born and raised in France, Gharbi honed his skills in the youth ranks of Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Portugal. Last season, Gharbi scored four goals and provided four assists in 23 league games for SC Braga, showcasing his potential on the left wing.

Gharbi's new teammate, Fabian Rieder, is a 23-year-old Swiss international who returns to Germany after spending last season on loan at VfB Stuttgart. FC Augsburg has signed Rieder on a contract lasting until 2030, with reports suggesting that the transfer cost the club approximately €7 million. Rieder, who prefers to play on the right wing, will bring his experience and skills to the Augsburg team.

Both transfers were masterminded by Sandro Wagner, the current head coach of FC Augsburg. Appointed as the new head coach in the summer before the 2025/26 season, Wagner has implemented his tactical approach to the team, aiming to secure a strong finish in the Bundesliga.

As the international break approaches, Gharbi will have the opportunity to meet his new teammate, Elias Saad, during the Tunisian national team's fixtures. Meanwhile, Rieder will be eager to make his mark on the Augsburg squad and contribute to the team's success in the upcoming season.
