Authorities apprehended a suspect for questioning regarding the theft of a smartphone.

In a significant development, the police in Reutlingen have arrested a suspect in connection with a mobile phone theft that occurred on July 24, 2025, at Listplatz. The suspect is an 18-year-old Tunisian national, known to the authorities for previous theft offenses and with no fixed address in Germany.

According to the press release issued on July 25, 2025, and updated on August 12, 2025, the victim and his companion met with an unknown person at around 11 pm in Steinenbergstraße to arrange a meeting regarding the stolen mobile phone. The suspect, who was recognized by the victim as the thief, fled on a bicycle after the handover of the phone in the area of the hospital.

The suspect was provisionally arrested after a brief pursuit on foot in the Lederstraße. He was taken to the police station and later presented to the judge at the Tübingen District Court on Wednesday morning. The judge issued the arrest warrant requested by the Public Prosecutor's Office and enforced it.

The bicycle used by the suspect and presumably stolen earlier was secured. The suspect is currently in custody.
