Authorities are addressing the primary factor contributing to the collision incident.
In a bid to improve road safety and reduce the number of accidents caused by excessive speed and reckless driving, the Circular Police Authority Borken conducted speed checks at 12 locations across the city and its surroundings.
During these checks, the traffic team recorded the speed of a total of 5650 vehicles. Shockingly, approximately 10% of these vehicles were found to be exceeding the speed limit. As a result, 7 driving bans, 106 administrative offense proceedings, and 454 warning fines were issued.
The most serious excess speeds were recorded at the South Circular on Büngerner Straße in Bocholt, where a vehicle was clocked at 79 km/h, significantly exceeding the speed limit. Outside the city, on Ahauser Damm in Gescher, a speed of 113 km/h was recorded, surpassing the maximum permitted speed of 70 km/h. Similarly, at the North Circular on Hermann-Ehlers-Straße in Gronau, a vehicle was caught speeding at 88 km/h.
These incidents highlight the prevalence of excessive speed and reckless driving in Circular Borken, which often results in severe consequences for all road users. The traffic team's efforts are focused on ensuring the safety of all road users in the region.
