Authorities are currently probing the origin of a blaze in Huckarde.
A residential and commercial building in Huckarde, Dortmund, was the scene of a fire that broke out on the second floor on September 2nd.
The fire, which started around 00:15, began in a second-floor apartment on Rahmer Street. The blaze was swiftly extinguished by the local fire department, but the operation lasted approximately two hours.
The affected apartment and the one below it are no longer habitable due to the extinguishing water. Tragically, a 56-year-old resident was taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. Fortunately, there was no immediate risk to life from the fire, and all other residents of the building remained unharmed.
Police officers evacuated the residential building due to the fire, and the criminal police have taken over the investigation. Current findings suggest suspected negligent arson, but the leader of the Dortmund police responsible for investigating the fire has not been explicitly named. However, Christoph DΓΌnwald, the head of the Dortmund Police Inspection Mitte, may be relevant for the investigation in that area.
Heat from the fire caused cracks in the windows of a ground-floor restaurant.
