Severe Cycling Accident in Southeast Hesse: Police Appeal for Witnesses and Involved Parties
A 72-year-old cyclist from the Gelnhausen area sustained severe injuries in an accident on a bike path near the federal road B276 in Wächtersbach, Southeast Hesse. The incident occurred between 9:40 and 10:40 AM on the previous week, but the exact time is still unclear.
According to reports from Police Headquarters Southeast Hesse, the cyclist was traveling between Wächtersbach and the A66 junction when he encountered two other cyclists at a narrow point. The cyclist was forced to perform an evasive maneuver and fell, sustaining several broken ribs and other injuries.
The two unknown cyclists, both wearing red tops and mountain bikers, continued on their way after a brief conversation. Investigations are now being conducted for a possible hit-and-run incident.
The 72-year-old was initially taken home by his son but later had to be hospitalized due to his deteriorating condition.
