Federal Police Enforces Weapons and Explosives Ban at Major German Train Stations

From December 31, 2024, at 12:00, until January 1, 2025, at 12:00, the Federal Police (Bundespolizei) will enforce a weapons and explosives ban at several train stations and S-Bahn stops in Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Regensburg, Würzburg, and Aschaffenburg. This measure is aimed at preventing acts of violence and protecting passengers and police officers from potential attacks.

The ban applies to all passengers and police officers during this time period. It includes all building parts of the main stations, such as pedestrian tunnels, adjacent platforms, and all publicly accessible levels. Violations may result in the seizure of the prohibited objects and the imposition of a penalty fee under the Weapons Act.

For inquiries, contact Matthias Knott at the Press Office. His email address is [email protected], and his phone number is 089 12149-1019. The general orders, which contain additional provisions and exceptions to the ban, are also published on the Federal Police website.

Posters at the aforementioned locations will inform about the carrying ban. The scope of this order includes the prohibition of carrying dangerous tools, firearms, imitation firearms, bludgeons, stabbing weapons, and knives of all kinds.

Independent of any criminal or administrative offense proceedings, penalty fees may be imposed. Further consequences may include a ban from the premises or a station ban.

The Federal Police officers will monitor compliance with this ban. For safety reasons, carrying dangerous objects is prohibited during this period.

The information was originally transmitted by the Bundes Police Directorate Munich and published by news aktuell. Matthias Knott encourages everyone to respect the ban and ensure a safe and peaceful New Year's Eve.
