Authorities in Granada have discovered a 12-year-old boy in possession of a revolver, 70 rounds of ammunition, and illicit substances.
In an unexpected turn of events, a 12-year-old child was found walking alone in the North district of Granada, Spain, close to midnight. The police patrol was taken aback by the young age of the boy, who appeared nervous and hesitant.
As the officers approached, the child initially gave his name and age but declined to disclose his destination or the contents of the items he was carrying. A search revealed that he was in possession of a .38 caliber revolver with ivory grips, along with a sock containing 37 cartridges, another striped sock with nine, and a transparent plastic bag with 35 cartridges. No ammunition was found in the gun's cylinder.
The boy claimed that the man who gave him the items had asked him to deliver them to a specific location, promising him twenty euros in return. When confronted by the national police officers, the child reacted by changing direction, speeding up, and looking back to see if he was being followed.
Upon the arrival of the child's mother at the scene, she provided the necessary documentation. The incident has since been handed over to the juvenile courts, who may decide to take some action towards the boy or his parents or guardians. The seized objects are currently under investigation to determine the origin of all this material and identify the man involved in the case.
It is important to note that, as a minor under 14 years old, the boy is not criminally responsible for any illegal acts he commits. This case, however, serves as a stark reminder of the complexities and challenges associated with safeguarding children from the dangers of the criminal underworld.
