In the early hours of Sunday morning, a 21-year-old American man was injured in a knife attack on a tram in Dresden, Germany. The incident occurred on tram line 7 in the direction of Gorbitz, at the Neustaedter Markt stop.

According to reports by the Dresden News and the police in Saxony's state capital, the man intervened when two men were harassing women on the tram. One of the perpetrators, a 21-year-old man, was apprehended near the scene, while the other remains at large.

During the ensuing altercation, one of the perpetrators injured the American man with a knife. The man was taken to the hospital, but the severity of his injury is initially unknown. The police are investigating the apprehended man and the other unknown suspect for dangerous bodily harm, among other charges.

The police are seeking witnesses, especially among the many passengers on the tram. The Bild newspaper quoted a police spokesperson as saying that there is no danger to the man's life. The man's name was not disclosed in the sources.
