September is upon us, marking the transition from the vibrant summer to the cosy autumn. This month is known for its in-between tones, offering a unique blend of the lightness of summer and the coziness of autumn.

The season of super fresh garden fruits is now over, with most farmers in Germany, particularly in Baden-WΓΌrttemberg and Niedersachsen, having already harvested their crops. This year, they expect an above-average harvest due to favourable weather conditions, with a good yield for sweet and sour cherries, apples, plums, and damsons.

As we move further into September, the ripe season for tomatoes and watermelons is nearly over. If you're lucky, you can still find a few ripe ones at local markets, but it's clear that everything is moving towards autumn.

However, this change of season also brings new opportunities. The time for finding mushrooms in the woods is present, and those who are skilled in foraging may be able to find a delicious bounty hidden among the leaves.

So, as we bid farewell to the summer's bounty and welcome the cooler temperatures of autumn, remember to embrace the in-between tones of September and enjoy the beauty and flavours that this transitional month offers.
