Away game result: Sochi FC suffers defeat at the hands of Spartak
In a dramatic turn of events at the Lukoyl Arena in Moscow, Spartak emerged victorious against Sochi in a thrilling Russian Premier League match. The final scoreline read 2:1, with Spartak's Ezequiel Barco scoring the winning goal in extra time.
The match began on a tense note, with the first half ending goalless. The deadlock was broken in the second half, as Barco successfully converted a penalty, opening the scoring for Spartak. Sochi responded swiftly, with Dmitriy Vasilyev scoring from outside the box to equalise the score at 1:1.
The excitement didn't end there. The penalty earned by Spartak in extra time was due to a foul by Kirill Kravtsov of Sochi on Ezequiel Barco. Despite the setback, Sochi held their ground until another penalty was awarded to Spartak, this time due to a foul by Vyacheslav Litvinov of Sochi on Anton Zabolotny. Barco once again stepped up to the plate, this time finding the bottom corner to secure the victory for Spartak.
The result leaves Sochi in 16th place in the standings, last in the league, with just one point. The next match for Sochi will be against Wings of the Soviets on September 14 in Samara.
Unfortunately, the match was marred by an incident involving Sochi's coach, who had a hypertensive crisis during the game against Krasnodar. The current head coach of FC Sochi is Igor Osinkin, who was appointed in September 2025, replacing Robert Moreno.
This victory marks a significant step for Spartak, as they continue their pursuit of a top spot in the league. The next challenge for Spartak will be against Dynamo Moscow on September 18, a match that promises to be just as exciting as their encounter with Sochi.
