The New York Mets are strategically navigating the trade market, aiming to bolster their roster for a potential postseason run in 2022. Their primary focus lies in acquiring another reliever, an outfield bat, and a frontline starting pitcher.

The center field market has lost some intrigue due to Byron Buxton's unwillingness to waive his no-trade clause. However, potential options for the Mets include Jarren Duran, Cedric Mullins, Luis Robert Jr., and Harrison Bader. While Luis Robert Jr. has a higher ceiling, he has been underperforming for the White Sox. Harrison Bader, who was a quality part-time option for the Mets last season, could serve as an offensive upgrade over Tyrone Taylor.

The Mets are hopeful that they can replicate the success of their 2021 trades, which included players like Phil Maton, Ryne Stanek, Huascar Brazobaฬn, Paul Blackburn, and Jesse Winker. The team's farm system, which also includes players acquired in the trade for Justin Verlander, is rich with promising talent. High-end pitching prospects like Nolan McLean, Brandon Sproat, and Jonah Tong are part of this arsenal.

The trade market remains flooded with quality relievers, and the Mets are actively monitoring the situation. Potential targets include David Bednar, Kyle Finnegan, Emmanuel Clase, and Feฬlix Bautista. The Mets recently added lefty reliever Gregory Soto from the Orioles, a move that has been met with excitement from outfielder Brandon Nimmo.

The Mets' farm system also includes Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford, who could potentially be traded to secure the necessary additions.
