Baseball team, Seattle Mariners, ended their seven-game losing run on the road, preventing a clean sweep by their opponents, the Cleveland Guardians.

In a thrilling encounter, the Seattle Mariners secured a 4-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, thanks to some impressive plays and timely hitting.

Currently, the Mariners are 2½ games ahead of the Rangers and three games ahead of the Royals for the third wild-card slot in the American League.

The game saw a standout performance from rookie Julio Rodriguez, one of the fastest runners in Major League Baseball. Rodriguez's hustle and determination were on full display throughout the match, including a close play at first base that proved to be the difference-maker.

Starter Bryce Miller threw a season-high six innings, allowing two runs on two hits, with a walk and three strikeouts. The two runs Miller conceded came in the third inning, but he managed to settle down and keep the Guardians at bay for the rest of his outing.

The Seattle offence got going in the third inning when Steven Kwan looped a double to left, and Daniel Schneemann hit a two-run homer. In the fifth inning, Randy Arozarena, known for his clutch hits, crushed a two-run homer, tying the score. Arozarena's homer was his 26th of the season and his 10th game-tying homer this season.

The play of the game came in the fifth inning when Rodriguez was running from the batter's box with Cole Young on first base. Rodriguez hit a soft ground ball up the middle, which bounced just out of reach of the Guardians' second baseman, Daniel Schneemann. Young was running on contact and was 20 feet from home when Rodriguez touched first base. After more than three minutes of reviewing the play at MLB headquarters, the call on the field "stood," meaning there wasn't enough video evidence to uphold or overturn it. Tyler Jones, the first-base umpire, emphatically signaled safe just after Rodriguez's foot seemed to hit the base simultaneously as the ball hit Schneemann's glove.

The Mariners' bullpen, led by Gabe Speier, Matt Brash, and Andrés Muñoz, retired the next 10 batters after Miller's two-run homer, securing the victory for the Mariners. Miller threw first-pitch strikes to 14 of the 21 batters he faced.

Fifteen of Arozarena's 26 homers this season have either tied the score or put the Mariners ahead, showcasing his ability to come through in crucial moments.

With this win, the Mariners continue their push for a wild-card spot, demonstrating the depth and resilience of their squad.
