France Wins Tough Game Against Slovenia in EuroBasket

The French basketball team secured a hard-fought victory against Slovenia on Saturday night, winning 103-95 in the second round of the EuroBasket group stage in Poland.

The game was intense throughout, with the French team never allowing Slovenia to significantly increase their lead, despite a maximum eight-point deficit. This resilience was a testament to the team's determination and the coaching of Frédéric Fauthoux, who has achieved 11 victories in 11 games since taking over from Vincent Collet a year ago.

Sylvain Francisco, the unexpected leader of the French team during the EuroBasket qualification, put in a decisive performance. He finished as the top scorer for the French team, scoring 32 points, and also contributed with five assists and seven rebounds.

However, Francisco's game ended on a less positive note due to a controversial incident involving Luka Doncic. After shaking hands with Doncic, Francisco attempted to score, but the tacit rule is that a player does not continue to play when the opponent has accepted defeat. The referee's decisions regarding this incident were controversial, with many personal fouls called and 44 free throws awarded to the opponents.

Despite this, the French team managed to pull through, with their victory allowing them to look ahead to the rest of the group stage with serenity. Their next game is against Israel, scheduled for the following day at 5 pm.

Luka Doncic scored 39 points in the game, but it was not enough to secure a win for Slovenia. The final quarter of the game was intense, with Francisco's last basket causing confusion in the game. The match resumed to play the last second with a final Slovenian basket due to the incident involving Francisco and Doncic.

The French team's current winning streak under Fauthoux now stands at 12 consecutive wins, a testament to their consistency and teamwork. As the EuroBasket tournament continues, the French team will be looking to maintain this form and challenge for the title.
