Bayer Leverkusen names the new coach as the ex-manager of Denmark, Hjulmand, following Ten Hag's termination.

In a shocking turn of events, Bayer Leverkusen have appointed Kasper Hjulmand as their new coach, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag. The Danish manager has returned to German football after a successful stint with the national team.

Hjulmand, who previously managed Denmark, guided the team to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 where they lost to England in extra time. His tenure with Denmark ended after Euro 2024, following a 2-0 defeat by Germany in the last 16.

This is Hjulmand's second stint in the Bundesliga, having previously coached Mainz 05 during the 2014-15 season. His appointment with Bayer Leverkusen is for a period of two years.

Erik ten Hag, who replaced Xabi Alonso as Bayer Leverkusen's coach in May, was sacked by the club after just two Bundesliga matches. Ten Hag had been out of management since his sacking by Manchester United in October. Xabi Alonso, on the other hand, left to take over at Real Madrid.

The dismissal of Erik ten Hag occurred before Kasper Hjulmand's appointment with Bayer Leverkusen, which was announced on Monday. Hjulmand's arrival at the club follows a poor start to the season, and fans are hopeful that he can turn things around.

Kasper Hjulmand's coaching experience with Mainz 05 is from the 2014-15 Bundesliga season, where he managed to steer the team through a challenging season. His appointment with Bayer Leverkusen marks his second Bundesliga club, and he is eager to make his mark on the club.

As Bayer Leverkusen's new coach, Hjulmand will be tasked with improving the team's performance and challenging for honours in the Bundesliga and Europe. Fans and players alike are excited to see what the future holds under Hjulmand's leadership.
