Bayern Munich poised for historic loan agreement with Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson
Nicolas Jackson Heads to Bayern Munich on Loan
After much speculation, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has agreed to join Bayern Munich on a season-long loan deal. The transfer, which could potentially reach a total value of £70 million, sees Jackson depart Stamford Bridge for the Allianz Arena, subject to a successful medical on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Englishman has expressed a desire to explore new opportunities ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and Bayern Munich's approach proved convincing, with the Bavarian giants beating off competition from several Premier League and European clubs.
Vincent Kompany's influence was crucial in Jackson's decision to join Bayern. The former Manchester City captain's strategic vision and the prospect of playing under him were key factors in the player's choice. Jackson's skills as a striker or winger make him a strategic fit for Kompany's system, offering depth to Bayern's attack, which is currently spearheaded by Harry Kane.
Chelsea prioritized the record fee and sell-on clause in the deal for Jackson. The deal includes a sell-on clause, benefiting Chelsea if Bayern sells Jackson in the future, and a loan fee of £13 million. If Bayern triggers the option to buy next summer, Jackson is expected to sign a five-year contract.
Enzo Maresca, Chelsea's manager, has excluded Jackson from pre-season friendlies and early Premier League matches in the 2025-26 season. The decision comes after the striker's form dipped last season, with just one league goal in his final 15 games and two red cards for violent conduct.
Jackson's departure from Chelsea follows a summer of significant player sales for the club. Christopher Nkunku's move to AC Milan was one of the transactions that contributed to Chelsea's summer revenue, which totalled £309 million against £277 million spent on new signings.
In his time at Chelsea, Jackson has scored 30 goals and provided 12 assists in 81 appearances. However, the arrival of strikers Joao Pedro and Liam Delap reduced his playing time, making the loan move to Bayern an attractive proposition for both parties.
As Jackson prepares to join Bayern Munich, he will undergo a medical check-up on Saturday morning before officially becoming a member of the club. The transfer marks a new chapter in the career of the talented English striker, as he looks to regain his form and help Bayern Munich challenge for major honours in the coming seasons.
