Bayern's basketball team performs admirably in their season debut against Milan.
In the ongoing four-team tournament, Bayern Munich faced a challenging test against Olimpia Milan. The German team was missing five professionals who were representing their countries at the European Championship (EM).
Kamar Baldwin, a recent addition to Bayern due to the severe injury of Lithuanian star Rokas Jokubaitis, was one of the players called up for international duty. Baldwin, who is currently playing for Georgia, scored a remarkable 24 points in the round of 16, helping his team eliminate the favored French team.
Meanwhile, back in Munich, the team was led by coach Gordon Herbert and relied on guest players and talents. Former Bayer player Devin Booker led the team in the game, while Canadian wing player Isiaha Mike arrived in Munich on Sunday after participating with the Maple Leafs at the Ameri-Cup.
Xavier Rathan-Mayes, another Bayern player, scored 15 points in the semi-final win against Italian league team Sassari. His contributions were crucial, as Bayern was short-handed due to the injuries of key players like Elias Harris and Johannes Voigtmann.
Tibor Pleiß, a guest player and centre veteran, could potentially help Bayern during the absence of Voigtmann and replace the long-term injured Harris, if Bayern were to sign him. Pleiß scored 12 points and promoted himself against Milan in a previous game.
Despite losing the final to Olimpia Milan 75:89, Bayern put up a good fight. The team had a half-day off on Monday after their tournament test in Calgiari, Italy, to regroup and prepare for their upcoming season.
