Bertolli Introduces 100% Recycled Plastic Bottle Made from rPET
Bertolli, a renowned brand in the culinary world, has taken a significant step towards sustainability with the launch of its Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil Dress & Drizz product in a 100% recycled PET (rPET) bottle. This move makes it the only olive oil brand on the market to offer a product in such eco-friendly packaging.
Meanwhile, Frylight has refreshed its packaging design across its spray oil range, but no specific information about the launch of a product in a 100% rPET bottle or any unique sustainability features of its packaging was provided.
The new Bertolli bottle, designed to provide a comfortable grip and superior dosage control, features bold colors to help it stand out on shelves. It also includes illustrations on the front to indicate how the product can be used, and improved on-pack instructions and QR-codes linking to recipes.
Last year, Citizens of Soil made headlines with single-serve extra virgin olive pipettes for its Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO), packaged in Notpla's plastic-free seaweed material. However, currently, there are no publicly available search results confirming any producer other than Bertolli making 100% recycled PET bottles for olive oil on the market.
Bertolli aims to reduce the environmental impact and carbon emissions of its packaging by 2030, and encourages its suppliers to do the same. The new bottle contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) for 2030.
It is important to note that the availability of recycling facilities for the new bottles may not be present in all areas. The pipettes, reported to be a UK market first, are 100% natural, biodegradable, home compostable, vegan, and edible.
As the demand for sustainable products continues to grow, it is exciting to see brands like Bertolli taking steps towards a greener future. While Frylight has yet to match these efforts in terms of packaging, their commitment to sustainability remains to be seen.
