Bochum Huskies Basketball Club Gears Up for New Season

The Bochum Huskies Basketball Club (BHC) is preparing for an exciting new season, with several changes and challenges ahead. The construction of a multi-purpose arena on the former Schaeffler site in Varresbeck is crucial for the BHC's survival, with the city of Bochum as the client of the planned facility.

In terms of personnel, the BHC has strengthened its roster with the arrivals of Lars Kooij from Vardar Skopje and Nico Schöttle from TVB Stuttgart. Kooij will take up a position in the circle, while Schöttle, who is now fit again, will join the back court. The departure of Djibril M'Bengue, a former national player for the BHC, has been absorbed by the existing squad, with players like Johannes Wasielewski and Elias Scholtes stepping up to fill the void. Unfortunately, Belal Ibrahim Massoud is injured and will be unavailable. Sören Steinhaus has returned from loan to Dormagen and will be available for the BHC.

The BHC is facing competition issues due to the university hall ownership, but all other games will take place in the university hall and the Düsseldorf Mitsubishi Electric Hall. The budget for the BHC is at the lower end of the Bundesliga, but business manager Tychy is grateful for the reliable partners of the club. No plans have been made to replace M'Bengue, who has moved to Bietigheim.

The BHC's primary goal for the season is to stay in the league. The team will kick off its season with a home game against HC Erlangen on Wednesday, 3rd September, at 7 pm in the university hall. Tickets for this game, as well as the "highlight game" on 24th May 2026 in the Düsseldorf PSD Bank Dome, will be available for presale. The presale for the "highlight game" will start on 1st September, and an "early bird discount" will be available for the presale of the "highlight game".

In addition to the games, the BHC has sold 1,000 season tickets or partner tickets so far. The club is looking forward to welcoming fans back to the arena and hopes for a successful and exciting season ahead.
