In the final event of the German Biathlon Championships, held under summer conditions as part of the biathletes' preparations for the winter, 31-year-old Franziska Preuss from Ruhpolding clinched the pursuit title.

Preuss, the overall World Cup winner, maintained her impressive form, recording no shooting errors in the pursuit title race. This victory follows her wins in the sprint and shortened individual races at the Arber, where she made her return after maternity leave.

However, it was not an easy win for Preuss. Janina Hettich-Walz, a 29-year-old from the same town, had won the sprint and shortened individual races before the pursuit title race. Hettich-Walz, a former world championship runner-up, put up a strong challenge, finishing second in the pursuit.

Among the men, Justus Strelow emerged as the winner of the pursuit title race. Philipp Nawrath finished third, while Lucas Fratzscher took the second spot.

The results of the German Biathlon Championships are significant as they influence who gets one of the coveted World Cup starting places. The season for biathlon begins on 29 November in Östersund, Sweden, with the Winter Olympics with biathlon events scheduled to be held in Antholz, Italy.

In a surprising turn of events, Selina Kastl finished third in the pursuit title race, adding another strong performance to her repertoire. Unfortunately, no further information about Kastl's age or previous accomplishments was provided.

Previously, Roman Rees had won the gold medal in the sprint race, while Philipp Horn secured the victory in the short individual race. These results further highlight the competitive nature of the German Biathlon Championships and the high level of preparation among the athletes.

The pursuit title race was held on roller skis, providing the athletes with an opportunity to test their skills under unique conditions, which will undoubtedly benefit them in the upcoming winter season.
