Billion-dollar Bitcoin Treasury Fund propelled by Sora Ventures commences in Asia region

During Taipei Blockchain Week, Sora Ventures, a leading Bitcoin investment firm, announced the launch of Asia's first Bitcoin treasury fund. The fund aims to increase available capital for Bitcoin treasuries in the region and foster a more integrated ecosystem for corporate Bitcoin holdings across Asia.

The fund is backed by a $200 million commitment from regional partners and investors, and it will be guided by Sora Ventures' management team. The new institutional investors and partners joining the fund include regional backers from Asia, such as Moon Inc. in Hong Kong, DV8 in Thailand, and BitPlanet in South Korea. The fund also aims to centralize institutional capital to support and expand these and similar treasury strategies across the region.

Sora Ventures' founder, Jason Fang, commented on Asia's growing role in institutional Bitcoin markets. He noted that while there has been interest from institutions investing in Bitcoin treasuries in the U.S. and EU, efforts in Asia have been relatively fragmented. Fang believes that the initiative will help connect existing and emerging treasury firms in Asia, addressing the need for more coordination and centralization in the region's Bitcoin market.

One of the first companies to adopt a Bitcoin Treasury Strategy in Asia is Taiwan-listed WiseLink. Their decision to invest in Bitcoin is a sign of growing Bitcoin adoption in the region. Metaplanet, another Asian company, has also added 1,009 BTC to its Bitcoin treasury, bringing the total to 20,000 BTC. As the largest corporate Bitcoin holder in Asia, Metaplanet's continued investment underscores the potential of Bitcoin as a reserve asset in the region.

Sora Ventures' focus is on creating synergies between regional and international treasuries to strengthen Bitcoin's role as a reserve asset across markets. The fund aims to acquire $1 billion worth of Bitcoin over the next six months, further solidifying its position in the Bitcoin market. Fang stated that this is the first time in history that institutional money has come together in Asia, from local to regional, and now to a global stage.

The launch of the Sora Ventures Bitcoin Treasury Fund marks a significant step forward for Bitcoin adoption in Asia. As more companies and institutions invest in Bitcoin, we can expect to see a more integrated and robust Bitcoin ecosystem in the region.
