BMW Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the 3 Series with a Limited '50 Jahre' Edition Available in India
BMW Unveils Limited-Edition Models for the 3 Series: The 330 Li M Sport '50 Jahre' and M340i '50 Jahre'
BMW India has announced the launch of two special editions for the 3 Series - the 330 Li M Sport '50 Jahre' and the M340i '50 Jahre'. These models are part of BMW's celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the iconic BMW 3.0 CSL.
The 330 Li M Sport '50 Jahre' and M340i '50 Jahre' editions share some common features, including a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (for the 330 Li) and a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline 6 engine (for the M340i), both paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels for the 330 Li and to all four wheels for the M340i.
The 330 Li M Sport '50 Jahre' comes in three colour options: Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, and M Carbon Black, with Black and Brown interiors. On the other hand, the M340i '50 Jahre' Edition is available in four colour options: Dravit Grey, Black Sapphire, Fire Red Metallic, and Arctic Race Blue, all with black interiors.
The M340i '50 Jahre' Edition features M Performance door pins, 50 Jahre emblems, and blacked-out badges. The 330 Li M Sport '50 Jahre' gets blacked-out elements, carbon-fibre trims, 50 Jahre engraving on the B-pillar, and a head-up display with 3D augmented view as part of the special edition.
Both models come equipped with tech such as a curved display, a reverse camera, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, and a wireless charger.
The M340i '50 Jahre' Edition will be limited to just 50 units, as will the 330 Li M Sport '50 Jahre'. The 330 Li's special edition costs ₹1.4 lakh more than the standard edition, and the M340i's special edition costs ₹1 lakh more.
The 100 buyers of these cars will receive a 1:18 scale model of the BMW 3.0 CSL from the 1970s. Interestingly, the developers of the BMW M4 CSL will also receive this special model, in addition to the exclusivity. Each car will have a 1/50 engraving, highlighting the exclusivity of the special edition.
The 330 Li M Sport '50 Jahre' is priced at ₹64 lakh, and the M340i '50 Jahre' Edition is priced at ₹76.90 lakh. Unfortunately, the number of units available for the M340i '50 Jahre' Edition and its price increase compared to the standard edition have not been disclosed.
