Bank of Cyprus Appoints Dr. Andreas Kritiotis as Independent Non-Executive Member

The Bank of Cyprus has announced the appointment of Dr. Andreas Kritiotis to its Board, effective immediately. The European Central Bank approved the appointment on August 28, 2025.

Dr. Kritiotis brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, having held various leadership roles in industries such as banking, insurance, and technology. Prior to his appointment, he was a Board Member at Alpha Bank (Cyprus) Ltd, the Cyprus International Institute of Management, and Payabl CY Ltd, a payment institution.

He also served as the Chief Risk Officer at the Bank of Cyprus before his appointment to the Board. His earlier roles include the position of Vice President of Operations and Development at The Cyprus Institute, General Manager of EuroLife Ltd from 1996 to 2007, and the positions of Chief Executive Officer and First Executive Director at Universal Life Insurance Public Co Ltd.

Dr. Kritiotis is the founder of Cerithium Ltd, an independent consultancy. He holds a PhD and MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London. He also completed a program in Computer Science at MIT.

The appointment of Dr. Kritiotis is a strategic move for the bank, as he brings a wealth of experience and leadership skills to the Board.
