News Article: Marburg Council of Elders Opens Digital Office Hours for Seniors

The Marburg Council of Elders, a body established in 1997 to represent the interests of older citizens, is inviting seniors from across the university town to attend their monthly office hours. These meetings, which will take place on September 15 from 2:30 PM to 4 PM at the counseling center with an integrated nursing point (BiP), are now also available as digital meetings via video conference for those who cannot attend in person or prefer a digital meeting.

The office hours offer citizens the opportunity to get in touch with the Council of Elders' members to discuss issues and seek possible solutions together. During these sessions, members will share information about their work and listen to concerns and questions from interested parties. Confidentiality is guaranteed for all discussions.

If necessary, the Council of Elders will refer attendees to appropriate places for further assistance. The topics to be discussed during the office hours range from mobility and digitalization to loneliness. Help with setting up and operating the smartphone, as well as questions regarding the current living and housing situation, will also be addressed.

The Council of Elders consists of elected delegates from senior organizations active in Marburg, elected delegates from non-organized seniors, politicians from factions represented in the city parliament, and one representative each from free welfare associations offering services in the area of the elderly.

Registration for the digital meeting is required and can be done by phone at 06421 201-1004 or via email at [email protected]. Seniors from the outskirts of Marburg are cordially invited to attend.

For further information about the Council of Elders, please contact Ilka Wolkau at the Business Office Council of Elders, Social Services Department, at 06421 201-1521 or via email at [email protected].

The Council of Elders has also been active in increasing mobility for those with difficulty walking, having installed several benches in the South Quarter and in Cappel. They advise and support municipal bodies in all important matters concerning older people and their interests.

The office hours are a good complement to the existing counseling landscape in the BiP. Unfortunately, there is no information available in the provided search results about the political representatives in the Marburg city council who belong to the council of the senior senate.
