Borussia Dortmund Secures First Win of the Season with a 3-0 Victory Over Union Berlin

Borussia Dortmund overcame a shaky start to claim their first win of the 2022-2023 Bundesliga season, defeating Union Berlin 3-0 at their home ground on Sunday.

The opening 20 minutes saw Dortmund struggling to find their rhythm, but coach Niko Kovac's team improved significantly as the match progressed. The turning point came just before half-time, when Yan Couto provided an assist for Serhou Guirassy's goal in the 44th minute.

Guirassy, who has been in excellent form, scored his third goal of the season and his second of the match, with a one-two with Maximilian Beier setting up a smooth chip over goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow in the 58th minute.

In the first half, Guirassy had a one-on-one opportunity with Ronnow, but he missed two golden chances. However, he made amends in the second half, where Dortmund played much better football compared to the first.

Felix Nmecha added a third goal for Dortmund in the 81st minute, securing a comfortable win for the team. Notably, Dortmund did not concede two late goals, unlike their season opener, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Guirassy's scoring streak continues, as he has now scored in seven consecutive Bundesliga matches. While he has not set a longer scoring streak in Dortmund's history, only two players in the club's history have a longer streak of scoring in consecutive Bundesliga matches.

Robert Lewandowski, who played for both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, holds numerous scoring records, but specific details on longer consecutive scoring streaks for Dortmund are not readily available.

The Bundesliga will resume on September 12 after a break for international matches and World Cup 2026 qualifiers. Dortmund currently sits on four points in the league table.

This victory will provide a much-needed boost for Dortmund as they look to climb up the table and challenge for the title this season. Guirassy's impressive form will undoubtedly be crucial in their quest for success.
