Bosbach and Kubicki are establishing an ambiance in Bocker Hall.

In the heart of Odenthal, on the evening of Tuesday, a crowd of over 400 people gathered at the Bocker Hall to hear political veterans Wolfgang Kubicki and Wolfgang Bosbach speak at a campaign event.

Laura Lundberg (CDU), candidate for mayor of Odenthal, and Martin Lucke, CDU member of the state parliament, were also in attendance, along with Alexander Felsch, candidate for mayor of CDU and FDP. Arne von Boetticher (CDU) and Dr. Alexander Engel (FDP), candidates for district council, were present as well.

The event was moderated by Bettina Mittenbuhler, deputy chairwoman of the CDU Bergisch Gladbach.

Kubicki and Bosbach emphasized the importance of volunteer work and local politics for society, discussing friendship, stance, and freedom. They encouraged people to take their neighbours, friends, and family to vote as well.

Both speakers agreed that Germany needs fundamental changes in many areas, and they warned that failure to do so could have negative consequences for education, social systems, healthcare, and daily life. They stated that social cohesion begins and democracy is founded at the local level.

A functioning economy, solution-oriented administration, and optimism are necessary to prevent significant prosperity loss, according to them. Accepting different positions and making good compromises are crucial for a democracy, they added.

The speakers were interrupted several times by applause for their pointed assessments and statements. Non-party members were interested in seeing experienced politicians Kubicki and Bosbach live.

The event concluded with a call to vote. A contribution from the CDU was published. Both speakers expressed the view that only the extreme fringes would benefit from such a situation.

Alexander Felsch, candidate for mayor of CDU and FDP, also took the opportunity to address the crowd, reiterating the importance of local politics and the need for change in Germany.

The evening was a powerful reminder of the role local politics plays in shaping society and the importance of voting in maintaining a strong democracy.
