VfB Stuttgart's Transfer Plans Amidst Injury and Potential Departure

VfB Stuttgart, the DFB Cup winners, are navigating the transfer market with a mix of speculation and confirmed plans. The potential departure of striker Nick Woltemade to Newcastle United could bring up to 90 million euros to the German club, according to reports. However, Sporting Director Fabian Wohlgemuth has not confirmed this transfer yet.

Wohlgemuth aims to negotiate transfer deals that allow VfB Stuttgart to shop market-appropriately, not at inflated prices, regardless of any potential injuries to their players. This was evident in his response to the injury of Deniz Undav during the match against Gladbach. Undav was substituted early due to a knee injury and is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the damage. The current status of Undav's knee injury is that it is bandaged and an ice pack is being used.

Despite the potential loss of a key player like Undav, Wohlgemuth does not believe the record sum from Woltemade's transfer will complicate their situation on the transfer market. He stated that the injury does not appear to be immediately serious enough to complicate VfB Stuttgart's transfer market situation.

Rumors about the signing of Algerian footballer Badredine Bouanani have been circulating, with Christian Gentner, another VfB Stuttgart official, reportedly speculating about the potential signing. However, Wohlgemuth has not confirmed nor denied these transfer reports. He did state that discussing anything beyond Undav's MRI results would be speculation.

As the transfer deadline approaches on Monday, the injury of Deniz Undav could potentially add pressure to the club. However, Wohlgemuth remains optimistic, stating that they will continue to negotiate transfer deals that best suit the club's needs and budget.
