Boyd Gaming to Replace Struggling Par-A-Dice Casino with $100M Facility

Boyd Gaming Corporation, the parent company of Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino, is planning to replace the struggling casino with a new entertainment facility. The project, valued at around $100 million, is in the final stages of design and regulatory approval. The COVID-19 pandemic has further impacted Par-A-Dice's financial performance, with gross gaming revenue declining from $82.5 million in 2016 to $60.5 million in 2023.

Boyd Gaming has not yet confirmed whether the new facility will be land-based or riverboat. The location, either in Peoria or East Peoria, depends on this decision. Peoria officials have advocated for a land-based casino to generate significant tax news. If approved this year, construction is expected to start in 2026. Despite Par-A-Dice's financial struggles, Boyd Gaming's Q2 reports showed significant growth in both revenue and EBITDA.
