BPOL NRW announces the retirement of the Chief of the Federal Police Inspectorate in Cologne

Udo Peltzer, a distinguished figure in German and international security, is set to retire at the end of August 2025. Over the past four decades, Peltzer has honorably represented the safety and security of Germany, serving the Federal Police for approximately 42 years.

For the past five years, Peltzer has led the Federal Police Inspectorate Cologne, a role that oversees federal police tasks in the Cologne, Bonn, Siegburg, and Siegen areas, spanning around 8,000 square kilometers. With around 400 employees under his leadership, the Inspectorate recently moved back into its new station at Cologne Central Station, following years of planning and renovation.

The farewell ceremony for Peltzer was held on August 19, 2025, in the cathedral city. Numerous representatives of the security and law enforcement partners attended the emotional event. Barbara Heuser, the president of the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin, praised Peltzer's exceptional achievements, highlighting his dedication and commitment to the force.
