BPOL NRW: The Head of the Federal Police Inspectorate in Cologne steps down from his post

Udo Peltzer, the Senior Police Director who has led the Federal Police Inspectorate Cologne for the past five years, is retiring at the end of August. The news was announced at a farewell ceremony held in a cathedral city on August 19, 2025.

The Federal Police Inspectorate Cologne, under Peltzer's leadership, has been responsible for federal police tasks in the Cologne, Bonn, Siegburg, and Siegen areas, covering a region of around 8,000 kmΒ². The Inspectorate, which has approximately 400 employees, recently returned to the Cologne Central Station after many years of planning and renovation.

Peltzer, who has served with the Federal Police for approximately 42 years, has held numerous challenging leadership positions at airports, train stations, and borders - both nationally and internationally. His exceptional service has been praised by Barbara Heuser, the President of the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin.

During his retirement ceremony, which was held on Twitter at @BPOL NRW, Peltzer expressed his gratitude for his years of service with colleagues and partners. The successor of Peltzer as head of the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin is not publicly known.
