Brendan Rodgers, the coach, joins forces once again with Kelechi Iheanacho, the player, at Celtic.

Kelechi Iheanacho, the Nigerian international striker, has joined Celtic Football Club on a one-year deal, with an option for a further year, following the termination of his contract with Sevilla.

The 25-year-old's move to Celtic Park comes just 24 hours after his contract with Sevilla was terminated. This transfer marks a return to the English Premier League for Iheanacho, who began his career at Manchester City.

Iheanacho's career in England includes stints at both Manchester City and Leicester City. He made over 200 appearances for the Foxes, where he enjoyed a successful spell under manager Brendan Rodgers. The duo shared a memorable chapter at Leicester City, with Iheanacho scoring 19 goals in the 2020/21 season.

The signing of Iheanacho is seen as a much-needed boost to the Celtic squad. The club is looking to defend their domestic crown and push further in Europe, and Iheanacho's arrival is expected to ease pressure on the board, who faced criticism for failing to land a striker before the transfer deadline.

Iheanacho's international career spans multiple years, and he has represented Nigeria 58 times in international football. He played a key role in the Super Eagles squad that reached the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Prior to his move to Celtic, Iheanacho spent the latter part of last season on loan at Middlesbrough. His career includes a League Cup win with Manchester City in 2016.

Iheanacho's move to Celtic is a free transfer, and it is not his first transfer. He joined Sevilla in an undisclosed year, but his time at the Spanish club did not last long. After ending his association with Sevilla, he has attracted interest from several clubs, including Leicester City and various teams from the Premier League and other European leagues.

Celtic fans will be eagerly anticipating Iheanacho's debut for the club, as he looks to help the team achieve success both domestically and in Europe.
