Marl's Marschall 66 Cultural Center Construction Progressing Smoothly
The renovation of the cultural meeting and experience center Marschall 66 in Marl, Germany, is progressing rapidly, with construction work proceeding on schedule. The project, a key component of the Integrated Urban Development Concept ISEK 2030+ for Marl's city center development, is a tribute to the former architect and urban planner GΓΌnther Marschall.
The redesign planning for Marschall 66 comes from the architectural office PLAN1 Architekten, while the conversion concept comes from the office of Feja + Kemper Architects and Urban Planners Partnership LLC in Recklinghausen. The city council approved the project in summer 2023.
The project is funded with 10.9 million euros from federal and state funds, and the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association supports it with 400,000 euros. The cost forecast is currently below the approved budget, at around 21.59 million euros.
Contracts for window construction, roof sealing, facade construction, and insulation have already been awarded. Current work includes drywall construction, electrical installation, heating, and plumbing. Smaller painting jobs have already begun at Marschall 66, and the future library at Marschall 66 is under construction in the gymnasium.
Contracts for interior doors, painting, and floor coverings are about to be awarded. Insulation and rough-in work is progressing well. Concrete repairs, roof sealing, scaffolding, and metalwork are almost finished.
The future artist's apartment at Marschall 66 is well advanced. Work on the drywall, electrical installation, heating, and plumbing is ongoing. Photos of the construction work at Marschall 66 are available from our city administration/press office.
Open tenders still include earth, tile, and natural stone work. The project is expected to be completed on time, providing a significant cultural and architectural landmark for the city of Marl.
