Build connections, garner suggestions, enjoy the experience
Last Friday, the Youth Culture Center, Alte Kaserne, played host to Landshut's first-ever Youth Festival. Organised by the Youth Council, elected in November 2024, and the Community Youth Work, the event provided a vibrant platform for Landshuter youth to engage in various activities, express their creativity, and connect with one another.
The musical accompaniment for the festival was provided by DJ SixX P from Dingolfing, who kept the lively atmosphere going with his beats. The young duo "Scarlet & Sin" also graced the stage with their performances.
Numerous young people participated in activities such as designing drawstring bags, getting henna tattoos, and plaiting braids. Artist Max Schalk, alias mr.mesc, led a graffiti action where young people could express their creativity on canvas. The event was alcohol-free, with the Educational Youth Protection providing catering and alcohol-free cocktails in the inner courtyard.
The success of the Youth Festival led to the planning of the next event, Youth Festival 2.0, in 2026. The Youth Council was able to collect ideas for the future during the event and was able to show that commitment pays off through the successful organization of the Youth Festival.
The Youth Council was also able to establish further contacts with Landshuter youth during the festival. Dr. Thomas Haslinger, the second Mayor, took the time to inspect the offers and engage in conversation with visitors, acknowledging the event's positive impact on the community.
The Youth Council was supported by employees of the Poschinger Villa Youth Center, Mobile Youth Work, the Checkpoint Youth Club, and volunteer helpers. The graffiti action by mr.mesc received much praise, adding a unique touch to the festival.
While information about who will organise the Youth Festival 2025 in Landshut is not yet available, the plans for its repetition in 2026 are underway. The next Youth Festival 2.0 is expected to allow for further providers of Landshuter youth work to participate and expand the offer, promising an even bigger and better event.
