In a bold move, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, the Sabah Umno chairman, has challenged the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, to an open debate to defend the controversial "Langkah Kinabalu". Bung Moktar is ready to debate with anyone, including the Chief Minister, to defend his stance on the matter.

Bung Moktar views politics as a battleground of arguments and truth, not a stage for empty words on social media. He claims that Hajiji Noor deceived him about a ministerial portfolio during the formation of the state cabinet, and accuses the Chief Minister of misleading Umno from the very beginning.

The Sabah Umno chairman describes the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition as being built on trickery and lies. He compares GRS members to wolves in sheep's clothing, pretending to be loyal but greedy for power. Bung Moktar states that "Langkah Kinabalu" is a dignified effort due to his observations of Hajiji Noor's leadership.

Datuk Seri Bung Moktar defends Umno's decision to part ways with GRS, stating it reflects respect for Sabah Umno's autonomy and integrity. He expresses confidence that Barisan Nasional (BN) will reclaim the Sebatik state seat in the 17th Sabah state election. Bung Moktar quotes an old Malay proverb, stating that Umno Sabah BN intends to leave a lasting and honorable legacy.

The accusations against Bung Moktar have been denied by Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who accused Bung Moktar of betraying Chief Minister Hajiji Noor during the formation of the Sabah state cabinet. However, Bung Moktar believes that the people of Sebatik know who has consistently fought for their welfare and who only appears when there is power to be gained.

Bung Moktar asserts that Umno Sabah BN's name will remain glorious, as they have defended dignity, not tarnished because they colluded with betrayal. Sabah BN, according to Bung Moktar, has never strayed from its principles and will not engage in party-hopping politics, conspire with lies, or bow to the greed for power.

The stage is set for an interesting debate between the two leaders, with the people of Sabah eagerly awaiting the outcome. The "Langkah Kinabalu" controversy continues to dominate the political landscape in Sabah, with both sides presenting their arguments in the public sphere.
