Bus Collision in Slovakia Results in Fatalities and Injuries
In a tragic incident that unfolded on Monday, a bus and a truck collided on a road in Slovakia, near the village of Drienovec. The accident, which involved a state bus travelling on a regional route in eastern Slovakia, left 32 passengers injured and the bus driver dead.
Initial reports suggested only 28 injuries due to the chaotic scene, but the number of injured individuals was later revised to 33. The bus driver, a state employee, was airlifted to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the truck was also injured but survived the accident. The truck was found heavily damaged and in a field beside the road.
The collision caused the bus to be completely destroyed, as shown in images released by the police. The bus driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by firefighters.
The exact cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the authorities. The road was temporarily closed to traffic following the collision.
The injured individuals were taken to several hospitals for treatment. The police reported the accident on their Facebook page.
