Business giant Hitachi unveils daring new visual brand identity

In a significant move, Japanese multinational conglomerate Hitachi has announced a new visual identity, marking its first revamp in 25 years. The new brand design, set to debut on 1 April 2025, aims to unify the company's diverse businesses under a single, unified brand identity.

Toshiaki Tokunaga, the newly appointed President and CEO of Hitachi, Ltd., has emphasised that this new brand design reflects Hitachi Group's determination to unite and challenge itself for a new stage of growth. The new identity places digital at its core, underscoring Hitachi's commitment to innovation.

The new visual identity includes dynamic graphics, 3D tonal textures that appear in both static and motion form, and a stripped-back color palette of blues and reds. The bold sans serif typeface, Hitachi Sans, acts as the signature for Hitachi's brand, balancing the company's heritage with modern momentum.

The new logo design maintains the same boldness of Hitachi's heritage wordmark, while the new brand ethos, "True One Hitachi," encapsulates the company's unwavering dedication to its values and mission. The new brand identity will be applied to Hitachi's suite of new visual assets.

Toshiaki Tokunaga, who debuted as the CEO in April 2025, has led major investments and strategic initiatives in the U.S., focusing on digital technologies, sustainable infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing. This new brand identity is a testament to Hitachi's ongoing transformation and its ambition to lead in the digital era.

It's important to note that this new visual identity does not include any references to Korean Air or Severance's Lumon logo. Hitachi's new brand identity is a standalone representation of the company's vision and values, moving forward into the future with a unified, digital-centric approach.
