C64 Ultimate's Debut Week Brings in Over $2 Million for Commodore; Three Major Releases Planned Annually in the Roadmap

After more than three decades, Commodore, the once-giant in the home computer market, is making a comeback. The new CEO, Peri Fractic (also known as Christian Simpson), is determined to prevent Commodore from facing bankruptcy again.

In a recent factory tour, prototype designs and quality control measures for the Commodore 64 Ultimate computer were revealed. This new hardware release, the first from Commodore in over 30 years, has already generated significant interest, selling approximately $2 million worth in its first pre-order week.

The Commodore 64 Ultimate computer will feature flavours of Amiga technology, a nod to Commodore's rich history. Future products from the company will also benefit from this legacy, with some projects potentially touching on the Amiga era, while others may include calculators.

Leonard Tramiel has been appointed as the Chief Tramiel Officer (CTO) at Commodore. Tramiel, a member of the Commodore dynasty, will undoubtedly bring valuable insights to the table. Meanwhile, Peri Fractic is working on the new C64 Ultimate menu system design.

The negotiations for the takeover of the 47 Commodore brand involved five former Commodore engineers and executives who had access to the 47 trademarks from 1982. The deal to secure these trademarks was signed by the new owners.

The manufacturing of the Commodore 64 Ultimate computer is being handled by PCB Way, a factory based in China. The shipping models of this computer will boot into the classic Basic prompt.

The GEOS software suite is now included in the Commodore 64 Ultimate computer, adding to its functionality. Dave Haynie, the Chief Engineer of the Amiga 2000, 3000, and 4000 desktop computers, has been invited to collaborate on new Commodore products.

Positive meetings about Amiga products and branding have taken place, suggesting a focus on reviving the Amiga legacy. The firm's roadmap includes three or four major releases per year for the next four years, ensuring a steady stream of new products.

The new Commodore owner, Peri Fractic, has secured the Commodore purchase deal with the help of angel investors. The company now has money in the bank, providing a solid foundation for its future endeavours.

The first week's sales volume of the new Commodore 64 computers is represented in a chart shared by Peri Fractic. The success of the pre-orders is a promising sign for the future of Commodore. As the company moves forward, it will also serve as a 'Founders Sandbox' for alumni to brainstorm ideas and projects for potential official release.

The Commodore 64 Ultimate computer will include an operating system software, ensuring a modern user experience while maintaining the nostalgic charm of the original computer. As Commodore embarks on this new chapter, fans and enthusiasts alike are eager to see what the future holds for this iconic brand.
