Caitlin Clark, diagnosed with a fever, participates in off-contact exercises but remains sidelined for the encounter versus the Lynx on Sunday.
Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark Misses 15th Consecutive Game Due to Injury
Caitlin Clark, the rookie sensation for the Indiana Fever, continues to battle injuries as she misses her 15th consecutive game due to a right groin injury. The Fever are currently without Clark, Sydney Colson, Aari McDonald, and Sophie Cunningham for the remainder of the season due to injuries.
Clark's historic Rookie of the Year season has been marred by injuries, including a left quad injury, a left groin injury, and a right groin injury. The latest injury occurred on Aug. 7, when Clark suffered a bone bruise on her left ankle during a workout.
Despite the setbacks, Clark has managed to average 16.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game this season. However, her shooting has been less than stellar, with a lengthy slump that has seen her go 7 of 49 from 3-point range in her last seven games. Clark has also failed to make a 3-pointer in three separate games this season.
Fever coach Stephanie White expressed hope that Clark will return before the end of the regular season, but no official return timeline has been announced. White appeared on ESPN's NBA Today earlier this month to discuss Clark's injury and recovery.
White also shared that Clark has been spending time on the training table, learning about taking care of both her body and mind. Clark herself told Glamour over All-Star weekend that this is the first time she hasn't felt like a young body that can run around and sprint every day.
The Fever's performance has been affected by the injuries, with the team going 11-11 without Clark compared to their 8-5 record with her in the lineup. Clark's absence has also cost the Fever the Commissioner's Cup championship and All-Star weekend appearances.
The Fever still have seven games remaining in the regular season, which ends on Sept. 11. It remains unclear if Clark will be cleared to play at any point before the end of the regular season.
As the Fever continue to battle injuries, fans will be eagerly awaiting Clark's return to the court. In the meantime, they will be hoping for a strong finish to the regular season and a successful playoff run.
