Caitlin Clark will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season as she is no longer participating.
Caitlin Clark, the highly-anticipated No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 WNBA draft, has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 season due to a series of injuries. The Indiana Fever announced the news on September 5, 2025, through Clark's social media channels.
Clark's season has been marred by injuries, starting with a bone bruise in her left ankle in August, which she had to rehab concurrently with her groin injury. She also missed time this season with left quad and left groin injuries. Her right groin was injured in the final minute of the Fever's game against the Connecticut Sun on July 15.
Despite her participation in 5-on-0 drills earlier this week, the Fever are not rushing Clark to return to the lineup. Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White had hoped to use the team's recent West Coast trip to evaluate the path forward for Clark, but Clark was unable to be fully reincorporated into practices before the Fever's regular-season finale on September 7.
Clark's shooting percentages for the season are 36.7% from the floor, 27.9% from beyond the arc, and 82% at the foul line. In the 13 games she has played, she has averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.6 steals, and 31.1 minutes per contest. She has also recorded five double-doubles and one triple-double this season.
In more positive news, Clark has signed a signature deal with Nike, joining A'ja Wilson and Sabrina Ionescu as the third WNBA player to do so. Her new signature logo is a combination of interlocking C's to represent her initials. Clark's logo collection will launch on Oct. 1, with a T-shirt in the Fever's colours (yellow and navy blue) set to release on Sept. 1 in North America at Nike.com.
Clark expressed her disappointment at not being able to return to play this season and thanked everyone who had supported her. She also expressed pride in the Fever team and their ability to get stronger through adversity this season. The Fever have not publicly announced a specific replacement player for Clark for the remainder of the 2025 season.
The long-term health and well-being of Clark remain the top priority, and she will not return to play for the remainder of the 2025 season. Fans will eagerly await her return next season, hoping to see the promising young talent continue to shine on the court.
