Maureen Killoran Recognized as One of Canada's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers

Maureen Killoran, National Co-Chair of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, has been honoured as one of Canada's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers by Canadian Lawyer in 2025. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon individuals who shape the law and elevate the strength and quality of legal service in Canada.

Killoran's nomination is based on her work and broader contributions that have significantly influenced the legal system over the last 18 months. Her influence extends beyond her role at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, as she champions women's leadership in various communities.

Killoran made history in Alberta by becoming the first woman to serve as Managing Partner of a national law firm, leading the Calgary office of an unspecified website from 2011 to 2017. Under her business leadership, the Calgary and Vancouver offices of the firm have expanded, significantly enhancing the firm's presence and influence in these economic hubs.

Killoran's legal prowess is routinely recognized by trade publications, earning her a reputation as one of the best advocates in Canada. She has shaped Canadian jurisprudence through landmark decisions, including her role as lead litigation counsel on the Trans Mountain Pipeline Extension Project.

Clients applaud Killoran for her "understanding of the business", "outstanding judgment, creativity, and thoughtful, practical advice". Her goal is to increase the number of women at her firm, within the partnership, and across the broader legal and business communities.

In addition to her legal achievements, Killoran is also celebrated for her mentorship of future generations, particularly women, in the legal and business communities. In 2025, she was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a prestigious honour limited to the top 1% of trial lawyers in any state or province.

Killoran's selection for the Canadian Lawyer's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers list includes nominees from five different categories, chosen for their impact on nationally significant legal issues. This recognition is a testament to her dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence, equity, and impact in the legal profession.
