Cancellation of Düsseldorf's demo with an appeal: "Cast your vote and opt for love!"

The Christopher Street Day (CSD) Düsseldorf association has announced that the demonstration scheduled for February 22, 2025, has been cancelled. According to Kalle Wahle, the chairman of CSD Düsseldorf, this decision was taken to ensure the safety of participants following serious threats against the demo.

The cancellation does not affect the planned CSD Düsseldorf from June 19 to 22, 2025, which is expected to be a celebration of love and unity, as per the motto "Love unites - hate destroys!". The June event will still take place as scheduled.

The LGBTIQ+ community's message is clear: "Go vote and vote for love!". The community encourages every eligible voter to exercise their right to vote, with a specific call to position oneself against the far-right and for tolerance.

The CSD Düsseldorf has a clear stance against the far-right, which may have contributed to the threats against the February demo. Past vehicle attacks have been cited as a concern in the cancellation decision.

The LGBTIQ+ community's message extends to the June event as well, where they aim to signify the queer community and encourage voting in the federal election. The demonstration in June is intended to take place from Burgplatz to Schadowplatz.

A report has been filed, and the police and state protection are currently investigating the threats. However, no direct details on which parties called for the cancellation of the February event can be provided at this time.

In conclusion, while the February demonstration has been cancelled, the LGBTIQ+ community remains committed to promoting love, unity, and tolerance, and encourages everyone to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections.
