In the heart of Germany, the city of Osnabrück hosted the 38th Tag der Niedersachsen from August 29 to 31, 2025. Organised by the city marketing of Osnabrück, with the state of Lower Saxony as the conceptual sponsor, the festival was a resounding success, attracting over 500,000 visitors from various regions, including North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands.

The three-day event, organised by Marketing Osnabrück GmbH on behalf of the city, was a festival of encounters, promoting unity across all differences. It transformed the city into a stage of diversity, with over 350 programs focusing especially on volunteerism.

Mayor Katharina Poetter expressed her gratitude for the weekend, highlighting that the city showcased itself as a City of Peace, a city of science, and a place worth living in, amidst nature. The festival was organised joyfully and openly, reflecting the Osnabruck spirit.

The festival's program included thematic miles, a youth mile, sports mile, and a parade of diversity. Over 250 young talents set creative impulses on the youth mile, while the sports mile had over 2,500 active participants. Around 1,500 participants marched in the parade of diversity.

The festival was characterised by music, encounters, culture, and a strong volunteer spirit. Over 70 hours of stage programs, open-air church services, personal conversations, and enthusiastic interactions ensured that there was never a dull moment. The old town and the castle garden served as the backdrop for these activities.

Police and emergency services reported a peaceful festival, with a coordinated security and traffic concept, awareness teams, gender-neutral toilets, and a retreat room at the cathedral being part of the festival's organisation.

Lower Saxony's Interior Minister, Daniela Behrens, praised the organisation of the festival and commended the peaceful atmosphere, great commitment of volunteers, and the unifying power of such an event. CEO Alexander Illenseer expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the festival.

The Tag der Niedersachsen was more than just a festival; it was an invitation for people to return to Osnabrück. With its peaceful atmosphere, diversity, and spirit of volunteerism, it left a lasting impression on all who attended.
