Gelsenkirchen: Serious Car Accident on Wanner Straße

In the early hours of September 6, 2025, a significant car accident occurred on Wanner Straße in Gelsenkirchen, involving four vehicles and a fence.

According to the Gelsenkirchen Police, the incident took place at 2:45 AM. A 59-year-old resident of Gelsenkirchen, driving westbound on Wanner Straße, lost control of his vehicle near Hansastraße. As a result, he veered off the road, causing damage to three parked cars and a fence.

The driver and his 24-year-old son, who was a passenger in the car, sustained injuries in the accident. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment. Tragically, the severity of the injuries for the 59-year-old was such that he required immediate medical attention.

Upon investigation, it was found that alcohol was present on the driver's breath. A breath test was conducted, and further investigations, including a blood sample, were carried out to confirm the presence of alcohol. As a result, the driver's license and vehicle were seized by the police.

Three vehicles were so badly damaged that they were declared total losses.
