Car driver absconds post highway accident involving pedelec rider, inflicting injuries.
On August 30, 2025, a tragic incident occurred on the Warendorfer Straße between Ahlen and Tönnishäuschen. An e-bike rider, a 16-year-old from Ahlen, was riding his e-bike from Tönnishäuschen towards Ahlen when he was involved in an accident.
The accident involved a collision with a car that fled the scene. A witness reported seeing a heavily damaged, white compact car driving towards Ahlen on the Warendorfer Straße around the same time. The teenager was severely injured and was taken to a hospital.
The Warendorfer Straße was closed for 2.5 hours due to the ongoing investigation into the e-bike accident. The accident investigation team from PP Münster and DEKRA were responsible for the continued investigation into the incident.
Subsequent searches for the car were unsuccessful. The identity of the driver, beyond being a 19-year-old from Hamm, has not been publicly released. On the same day, at 11:45 AM, a 19-year-old from Hamm reported a traffic accident he had been involved in overnight. His car, driver's license, and mobile phone were seized. A blood sample was taken from him due to suspected drug use. Further investigation revealed a possible connection to the accident on the Warendorfer Straße in Ahlen.
