The European Automotive Working Group on Supply Chain Sustainability, a collective of ten major automotive manufacturers, has been actively using a questionnaire to assess the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability performance of their suppliers. This questionnaire, known as the CSR SAQ automotive sector 1.0, is related to CSR Europe, Europe's leading business network for Corporate Social Responsibility.

The questionnaire is based on the Automotive Industry Guiding Principles to Enhance Sustainability Performance in the Supply Chain. It serves as a self-assessment tool for supplier performance on CSR/Sustainability topics, covering areas such as social and environmental sustainability, business conduct and compliance, and supplier management.

CSR Europe, with its 70 corporate members and 37 National Partner Organisations, provides a platform for companies from different industrial sectors to positively contribute to society. The organisation facilitates the work of the Automotive Working Group and the European Automotive Working Group on Supply Chain Sustainability.

The participating automotive manufacturers in the European Automotive Working Group on Supply Chain Sustainability include BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company, Jaguar Land Rover, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Scania, Toyota Motor Europe, Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, Volvo Group, and Volvo Cars. Since March 2014, these manufacturers have been united under the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), representing 15 leading car, truck, van, and bus makers in Europe.

Individual companies can choose to complement the common questionnaire with more detailed company-specific tools. The adoption of the common questionnaire by all participating automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) promises benefits such as efficiency gains for both the OEMs and their suppliers.

For more information about the questionnaire and its terms of use, you can download it from the CSR Europe website (www.csreurope.org). If you have any queries, you can contact Mariya Stoyanova at [email protected] or Catalina Pislaru at [email protected].

CSR Europe continues to support and facilitate various industrial sectors in their CSR efforts, aiming to foster a more sustainable and responsible business environment across Europe.
