Car theft investigated by Polish authorities
In a series of events that have unfolded across the region, several incidents and accidents have been reported, leaving authorities scrambling for information and witnesses.
To begin with, a tragic traffic accident occurred on Monday morning at the intersection of Stuttgarter Straße / Uhlandstraße in the Pliensauvorstadt district of Esslingen. A 79-year-old man, driving his Mercedes A-Class, collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the street on the pedestrian crossing. The severely injured man was rushed to the hospital for further treatment, but the extent of the property damage is not yet known.
In a separate incident, a 67-year-old man who had been missing from Beuren since August 13, 2025, was found dead in the rugged, high-altitude terrain near Oberstdorf on Monday afternoon. The public appeal for information about the missing man has been withdrawn following his identification.
Another unfortunate incident involved a cyclist, aged 17, who was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Grafenberg's Bergstraße on Monday morning. The cyclist, believed to have been holding her smartphone during the ride, collided with an oncoming Mazda. The 37-year-old woman, also involved in the accident, sustained severe injuries and had to be taken to hospital by the emergency services.
In Reutlingen, unknown individuals broke into a garden shed in the allotment garden complex on Sickenhäuser Straße on Sunday. The Tübingen police have initiated investigations and are requesting witnesses to contact them at 07071/972-1400.
A similar incident occurred in Reutlingen-West, where on Sunday, two unknown men broke into a garden hut in the garden hut area on Sickenhäuser Straße and stole spirits. The police in Reutlingen-West are investigating the incident and are seeking witness statements at telephone number: 07121/9394-0.
In a more unusual event, a 73-year-old e-bike rider sustained severe injuries in a fall on Monday afternoon. The man was riding downhill on an asphalted community path between Zitterhof and Pfeffingen.
Lastly, a white Fiat 500 parked in Goethestraße was stolen between August 2, 2025, and Monday, 7:15 AM. The stolen vehicle has the license plate TÜ-GS 1230. The traffic police in Esslingen are looking for witnesses to the theft and are particularly interested in those who can provide information about the traffic light phase for vehicle traffic on Stuttgarter Straße.
The suspects in the stolen vehicle are described as follows: One is about 170 to 180 centimeters tall, slim, wearing a white 3/4 pants, a dark sweatshirt, a dark beanie, and has a tattoo on his left calf. The other is wearing a dark, long pants, a blue sweatshirt with lettering on the back, a light blue cap, and carrying a blue cooler bag.
The Esslingen traffic police are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward and contact them.
