Carbon-infused Le Mans GTR from Gordon Murray showcasing a captivating cult appeal
British Sports Car Manufacturer Unveils Exclusive Le Mans GTR
British sports car manufacturer, Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV), has revealed its latest creation β the Le Mans GTR. This limited-edition model, inspired by the Longtail racing cars of the 1970s to 1990s, particularly used at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is a road-legal sports car that promises an exhilarating driving experience.
The Le Mans GTR is a Longtail version of the T.50, featuring a distinctive aerodynamic design that optimises performance on both the track and the road. At its heart lies a V12 naturally aspirated engine, capable of reaching over 12,000 rpm. However, the exact power output of this engine remains undisclosed by GMSV.
The interior of the Le Mans GTR is a blend of modern technology and classic racing charm. The driver sits centrally in a racing seat, surrounded by carbon fiber, a material that dominates the cockpit. Digital and analog displays provide crucial information, while small displays on the dashboard show images from the digital rearview mirrors. On either side of the driver, there are two more seats, making the Le Mans GTR a true three-seater.
The Le Mans GTR is transmitted to a manual 6-speed gearbox from Xtrac, a testament to its racing heritage. For those who wish to take it to the track, the Le Mans GTR will receive a stiffer and lighter suspension, a wider track, larger tires (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2), and improved cooling.
Gordon Murray plans to start production of the first Le Mans GTR in 2026. Despite being a new model, all 24 units of the Le Mans GTR have already been sold, representing each hour of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The buyers of these exclusive vehicles remain undisclosed, with GMSV noting that they are enthusiasts and collectors who share a passion for racing history.
The Le Mans GTR is more than just a sports car; it's a homage to the spirit of endurance racing. With its limited production and high-performance capabilities, it's a coveted item for any racing enthusiast. While the exact purchase price of the Le Mans GTR has not been officially revealed, it's expected to be several million euros.
The Le Mans GTR by Gordon Murray Special Vehicles promises to deliver an unforgettable driving experience, combining the thrill of racing with the comfort of a road-legal sports car. As production nears, anticipation for this iconic vehicle continues to grow.
