Cash service provider, GCash, introduces a new 'Tap to Pay' functionality, aiming to facilitate quicker transactions.
GCash, the digital financial services platform operated by G-Xchange Inc., has launched a new 'Tap to Pay' feature. This innovative service, which uses near-field communication (NFC) technology, aims to provide users with more convenient payment options.
The 'Tap to Pay' feature allows users to complete transactions by tapping their NFC-capable Android phone or compatible card near the payment terminal. This contactless payment method is available both in the Philippines and overseas due to GCash's partnerships with Alipay+ and Mastercard.
To enable and use the 'Tap to Pay' feature, customers need to open the GCash app, grant permission for the phone's NFC feature, and select the option on the home screen. After receiving an in-app confirmation, the service will be ready to use. Notably, the 'Tap to Pay' feature does not require a signature or PIN for transactions.
The launch event, held in Taguig City, showcased interactive segments related to purchasing decisions to highlight the new payment method. The event underscored GCash's commitment to continually improving its services and providing users with seamless digital payment solutions.
Ferdie Perez serves as the Product Innovation Head at G-Xchange Inc., overseeing the development and implementation of new features like the 'Tap to Pay' service. The identity of the person serving as the Product Innovation Manager at G-Xchange Inc. is not publicly available.
The 'Tap to Pay' feature can be used at Mastercard-enabled terminals, offering users a wide range of locations where they can utilise this convenient payment method. This new service is yet another step forward in GCash's mission to make digital payments more accessible and user-friendly.
